Undoubtedly we have varying opinions, but let us concur for the moment that the dream job is born out of desire and feeds the will. The Myth says there is a perfect job waiting at the top of the corporate ladder, plush with 6 figures, long lunches, and quarterly travel. Yet only after suffering underpay and overtime persecution are we fit to achieve it – and of course we can’t forget golf lessons.
Where did we get this notion that everything worth having takes hard work? Or worse, you have to "know somebody"? To the cognizant professional the latter begs to ask: am I nobody? Maybe I overlooked Network & Brownnose 101 in the college curriculum. We are the only creatures on the planet with such standards to succeed. Modern and conventional guidance teach us to simply follow the best path. Now that doesn’t sound so hard, does it? I think we are confusing hard work with smart, efficient work.If you are working hard on a long-term basis something is wrong! Doesn’t the dream job give us a picture of ourselves working smart and efficient?. So how can you ever get there if you never try it? The day laborer works harder than the billionaire so by the hard work myth shouldn’t the day laborer be ahead? But of course he’s not. The hard work myth is not a good investment.
Now the Math. By working smart and efficient with your natural abilities you create your dream job. It could be the job you’re on if things were only done smart and efficient. Hard work should only be done to the extent that intelligence and efficiency evolves (as a result). In fact, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS HARD WORK – only work that has not evolved to intelligence and efficiency.Dump the hard work myth to get a dream job and start looking for the smarter, more efficient path to manifest your dream job. Surprisingly you will find it has always been a straight line! ;) And it will never matter who you know until you know yourself.
